2015 Nominee - Junior Division

Donovan Curtis is in big trouble, and when he is accidentally placed in the special gifted program, he decides to hide out there until it's safe to show his face. And not even the most gifted student could predict the impact he will have on his new class.

Due to an administrative mix-up, troublemaker Donovan Curtis is sent to the Academy of Scholastic Distinction, a special program for gifted and talented students, instead of getting in trouble after pulling a major prank at middle school. Ages 8-12

Due to an administrative mix-up, troublemaker Donovan Curtis is sent to the Academy of Scholastic Distinction, a special program for gifted and talented students, after pulling a major prank at middle school.

Can a totally ungifted kid, Donovan Curtis, make his mark in a school for geniuses after committing one prank too many?

"Expecting to be expelled after his latest prank goes spectacularly (and very expensively) wrong, eighth-grader Donovan Curtis is instead admitted -- by mistake -- to the Academy of Scholastic Distinction, a special school for gifted and talented students. But Donovan isn't telling anyone about the administrative error; he's just going to keep his head down and hide out among the brainy kids. Or at least, that's the plan... Donovan's experience as a sort of stowaway at ASD is one that fans of funny, character-driven, feel-good stories will love reading about." This book has a more harder vocabulary but it was a very interesting and it made you want to read more and more! This is good for a young reader such as I and even then, adults can enjoy it too

Ungifted is a pretty good book which includes a little suspense combined with laughter. I liked the middle part where the main character Donavan was voted by his class to most likely to end up in jail that gave me the laughs.
-great book

It's a great book for people that are into robotics but also enjoy humor.

This reminds me of some of the "classic" Gordon Korman books I read when I was a pre-teen/teen. I think he really nailed it with the characters, dialogue, comedic timing for several passages. All-around great story and characters. Includes both funny and serious/poignant sections in a nice balance.
