Dr. Ingrid Walker is Associate Professor of American Studies at the University of Washington, Tacoma, where she researches and teaches about the politics of contemporary culture and popular culture in the United States. Her book, High, explores how drug prohibition and health care have created disparate, harmful practices and beliefs regarding drug use in American life. In her TEDx Talk, "Drugs and Desire," she discusses social biases about psychoactive drugs, from caffeine to methamphetamine.
