Presented by The Cresswell Club.
We cordially invite you for a series of live readings throughout the fall season, pairing tales of horror and the occult with recipes for cocktails to mix and enjoy while you listen.
The Cresswell Club began as a series of Halloween and Walpurgis-Night ghost story readings with friends and family in New York City, and was continued by the Carpenter Brothers when they moved back to their hometown of Seattle.
1 oz. rye
1 oz. applejack
1/2 brown sugar cube
2 dashes of orange bitters
Build in whiskey glass (as you would an Old Fashioned), add a rock. Garnish with an orange twist.
(Michael McIlroy/Richard Boccato)
A warm fall drink, for the upcoming chilly season. The Bear Trap is a nice variation on the usual cold-weather standbys of hot toddy and hot buttered rum; this is an adaptation of the original recipe by Abe Hawkins, former head bartender at Dutch Kills Bar in New York.
1 1/2 oz bourbon
1 pat of salted butter (about 1 tablespoon)
1 teaspoon honey
a (generous) shake of cinnamon
a (less generous) grate of nutmeg
3 oz apple cider (or more to taste)
Soften butter and whip in honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Heat cider in a saucepan and melt in spiced butter, stirring to combine. Turn off heat, stir in bourbon, and serve in a tempered mug.
You will be sent a Zoom link to the session by 6pm the day of the program.
Video and call-in options available.
