Gothic Blackletter Part 1 - Using the Pilot Parallel Pen at the Bellevue Library

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Bellevue

Description

In a 2-part program, learn how to use the parallel pen to make decorative marks and a style of heavy, compressed writing known as Blackletter.

On August 13, discuss lower-case minuscule letters and, on August 27, capital letters. Gothic Blackletter is reminiscent of the manuscript script that may be difficult to read but popular in the Harry Potter series. The class will include fun lessons on how to use the pen to create mandala patterns and borders.

Instructor Lisa Tsang of the Society of Calligraphy and Handwriting will provide examples of work and projects that students can do to further hone their skills.
