Tea in the Time of Jane Austen

6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Issaquah

Description

By the time Jane Austen was writing her novels, the pleasure of tea was well established in British society. The Regency period, spanning generally from the late 1700s to 1810, gave way to more availability of this wonderful beverage.

What did tea drinkers really know about the beverage and what types of tea were available to them? How was tea imported to England and did all the tea come from China? Get an insight into tea and tea trade during the Regency period. Taste a few of the teas similar to those Jane and her family might have enjoyed.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Issaquah Library and in partnership with Village Theatre.
