Math Club: Core Math Geometry (Study Zone online)

Math Club volunteers provide lessons to help students exercise their math skills. Classes are by suggested grade level, but students may attend lessons on any class they choose. Students should log in a few minutes before class begins.

February 1: Equation of the Circle
February 8: Intro to Circles & Radians
February 15: Arc Length

March 1: Arc Angle Problems
March 8: Sector Problems
March 15: Properties of Tangents
March 22: 2D vs 3D objects
March 29: 3D Shape Problems (work with cones, pyramids and related shapes and find problems trying to solve for the height or the area of the base etc.)
April 5: Volume Proofs for Shapes & Problems
April 12: Surface Area Proofs for Shapes & Problems
April 19: Intro to Density & Related Problems
April 26: Introduction to Construction, and why it's important
May 3: Constructing Parallel Lines & Perpendicular Bisectors
May 10: Constructing Perpendicular Angles, Copying an Angle & Angle Bisectors
May 17: Constructing a Line Tangent to a Circle & Circumcirles and Incircles
May 24: Introduction to Quadrilaterals: all groups and their definitions
May 31: Parallelogram & Rectangle Theorems/Properties
June 7: Trapezoid, Rhombus, Square & Kite Theorems/Properties

Study Zone

Study Zone programs provide volunteer-led academic support for grades K-12. Programs include Tutors, Math Club, Reading Buddies and Kids & Teens Talk Time. Available online and in libraries.

Online Study Zone programs are supervised by library staff. Visit Study Zone for the Terms of Use Agreement and steps KCLS is taking to maintain a safe and positive online space.
