Math Club: Core Math Algebra (Study Zone online)

Math Club volunteers provide lessons to help students exercise their math skills. Classes are by suggested grade level, but students may attend lessons on any class they choose. Students should log in a few minutes before class begins.

March 8: Introduction to Absolute Values and their graphs
March 15: Solving Absolute Value Equations
March 22: Piecewise Functions
March 29: Expoent Properties + Radicals
April 5: Working with square roots (Simplification and rationalization)
April 12: Exponential Graphs Introduction + comparison to linear graphs
April 19: Exponential Growth VS Decay + Word Problems
April 26: Intro to polynomials, monomials, and binomials (Multiplying, dividing, adding and subtracting)
May 3: Factoring
May 10: Intro to (x-y)^2, (x+y)^2, and (x-y)(x+y) concepts and Practice problems
May 17: Introduction to Parabolas, and how to graph them
May 24: All forms of quadratic equations (Vertex, Factored, Standard) + problems to solve
May 31: Solving by Factoring + quadratic formula
June 7: Solving by completing the square
June 14: Irrational Numbers (Sums and products)
June 21: Closed

Study Zone

Study Zone programs provide volunteer-led academic support for grades K-12. Programs include Tutors, Math Club, Reading Buddies and Kids & Teens Talk Time. Available online and in libraries.

Online Study Zone programs are supervised by library staff. Visit Study Zone for the Terms of Use Agreement and steps KCLS is taking to maintain a safe and positive online space.
