Digitize your home movies! Chat with film and video experts from Moving Image Preservation of Puget Sound (MIPoPS) who can answer your questions on how to protect these valuable memories.

  • Digitize your home videos! Bring in your own homemade film and videotapes  and get them safely digitized. We will have all the equipment and the expertise at your disposal.*
  • Ask an Audiovisual Archivist! Do you have a mystery tape? Or want to know the best way to store your VHS collection? MIPoPS experts can help with identification, basic preservation and conservation actions, and digitization options.
  • Moving Image Discovery Station! Check out our collection of film and video formats from over 100 years of film and video history. 
  • Watch home movies on the big screen! Watch home movies from the coast of California to the lakes of Wisconsin, all set to music.
  • Take home a swag bag! Including a Home Movie tote bag, zines on audiovisual and digital preservation, a list of local resources for film and videotape digitization, stickers, how-tos for home movie care and more!

*Time available for digitization will be limited and will depend on demand. KCLS and MIPoPS can digitize the following formats:

  • 8mm film
  • VHS +VHS-C
  • SVHS
  • MiniDV
  • Betamax
  • 8mm video/Video8/Hi8

Registration not required.
