Rent Smart: Breaking Your Lease

5:00 PM – 6:45 PM

Description

Do you need to break your lease to stay safe? How can you break a lease if you have a fixed-term contract? Will you lose your deposit if you move out when you break your lease?

Join Solid Ground tenant counselors to learn:

  • General information about the different types of lease contracts.
  • When a tenant can break their lease if their landlord doesn’t respond to repairs.
  • The process for breaking a lease due to safety issues, including stalking or domestic violence.
  • Other reasons to legally break a lease.
  • The move-out process and general deposit information when breaking a lease.

A visiting attorney from the Tenant Law Center may be available during presentations for general legal information. Legal aid resources are shared during the presentation as well.

If you are currently living in King County and being threatened with eviction, contact the Housing Justice Project for legal assistance at 206-580-0762 or hjpstaff@kcba.org.

Please register. You will receive an email with a Zoom link 24 hours before the event. You can also connect to this program by telephone.
