Celebrating Lunar New Year: Lucky Knot Workshop

Description

Learn the art of tying lucky knots--symbols of protection, love, and prosperity used in cultures around the world-- with Artist Ahmoy Lau. In this hands-on workshop, participants will create their own beginner-friendly knot, choosing thread colors and adding beads, discs, or tassels. Learn the history and cultural significance of this ancient craft. Take home tutorials and at least one finished knot.

Ahmoy Lau is a Chinese knot artist and educator who has taught classes with the Wing Luke Museum, Henry Art Gallery, and Reclaim Clay Collective. He is passionate about making cultural crafts accessible to people of all backgrounds and using art to highlight important historical and contemporary social issues.
