The voices on this audio were perfect for the characters being portrayed. I didn't realize taht it was Wally Lamb who narrated the part of Orion and it worked wonderfully.

I loved this story of family relationships, love and secrets that ripple through the generations. This is a story of a marriage that failed; how and why. And it's more than that; it's family, resilience, strength.

I love the title and how it shows the core of this story. We are water in our ability to flow with what life gives us to endure, we float, we could drown, we have no limits.

Wally Lamb can write a good story and this is one of them.

I must be the only person who disliked this book. I tried sticking with it, tried fast forward, failed. Years ago I read one of his I liked... not this one.

I really enjoyed this book, it really made me think. The characters were very engaging and different. The ending was okay. Overal I'd recommend it, 5 stars from me. After being disappointed by the hour I first believed I was glad to see lamb recover with this one. He really is a fantastic writer.

Great audiobook. Interesting story and compelling characters.

I very much enjoyed the story, and the narrators. I felt that for the most part, the characters were well developed, and complicated. I almost gave up at the beginning, because I really disliked Annie in her first appearance. But as I kept going, the story revealed her to be a much more interesting and understandable person than I originally thought. I liked getting to know all the characters, flawed and human as they were. My complaints were A)The perspective from Annie's cousin was more graphic than necessary. B) The son's fiancee was a bit of a type.

However, I am glad I listened to the story, and would recommend it!

I didn't like the characters, but the multiple narrators did such a great job of bringing out their personalities. This is a good book, elegantly written, but made even better by the narrators. Except George Guidall -- in this book he detracts rather than adds to my enjoyment.

Started reading this and got almost half way before temporarily giving up - just couldn't sink my teeth into the characters. Returned to it on audio a few weeks later and so glad I did, the pace, plot and character development really pick-up to make it yet another amazing read by Wally Lamb.
