VERJY GOOD 1938 b/w film with James Stewart at age 30, beautiful Ginger Rogers at 27, and James Ellison at 28.
This is definitely a 'screwball romance' from back in the day with a broad mixture of comedy/drama, most of which worked for me.
And the big fist fight between the two ladies at the prom is the toughest I've ever seen on film - maybe the only female fight I've ever seen on film. I'm thinking the film title using 'Vivacious' may be a play on words with 'Vicious'.
Handsome James Ellison (whom I've only recently discovered) is excellent in his role as Jimmy's brother Keith, as is Charles Coburn as Jimmy's stern father, and fun Beulah Bondi as his mother.
The film is a whack, but fun period piece - glad I watched!

We are so lucky that many of Jimmy Stewarts early films have been reissued. I found "Vivacious Lady" very entertaining. Some of Hollywood best character actors are in the film. You won't go wrong with "Vivacious Lady".

A young Jimy Stewart shows his ability to do comedy. Great supporting cast makes "Vivacious Lady" a very entertaining movie.
