Classic Malley, to avoid being shipped off to boarding school, she takes off with some guy she met online. Poor Richard -- he knows his cousin's in trouble before she does. Wild Skink, he's a ragged, one-eyed ex-governor of Florida, and enough of a renegade to think he can track Malley down. With Richard riding shotgun, the unlikely pair scour the state, undaunted by blinding storms, crazed pigs, flying bullets, and giant gators.

I love Carl Hiaasen's work. This one did not disappoint. And it was good to know Skink is still out there.

More for the teenager/young adult readers. Some good funny lines. Always a pleasure, though, to read about Skink.

This is the first Hiaasen book I have read and WOW! The characters pull you right into the story and don't let you go! Richard's cousin runs off with a man she met on the internet. Richard figures it out and decides to track her down with the help of Skink (a former governor of Florida current eco-warrior who is presumed to be deceased). Read it! You will not be disappointed!

Love this author but this one is AWESOME!!!

Very satisfying Hiaasen adventure! Hadn't known it was intended for younger readers, so style is simpler, and language is cleaner.

Although most Hiassen novels are pleasantly far-fetched, the age of the main characters in this one do not fit their thoughts and actions......or perhaps I am just out of touch with the youth of today!
