This Great Courses DVD package of four discs provides 24 lectures -- starting with pre-roman and roman London (e.g. the name london is thought to have come from a Celtic word for "wild") and ending with postwar London (including the 1960s and Millennial London). Each 30 minute lecture includes lots of interesting details and is well presented.

Presenter brings to life the people and times from Roman Britain to the days of Pepys, plague and fire.

An informative series of lectures by a professor who is clearly a genuine London enthusiast. His delivery is often rather irritatingly overdramatic but he's well turned out and gets full marks for effort. He's certainly a lot more animated and intersting than the old dry-as-toast history profs. I had in my day. He also knows his stuff. Recommended.
