Yoram Globus and the late Menahem Golan are two movie-obsessed immigrant cousins who became Hollywood's ultimate gate-crashers. With hair-trigger randomness, these cousins of chaos churned out a breathtaking cavalcade of hits and misses, made movies out of posters, released a sequel before the original film, botched plots, bounced checks and burned careers -- and in so doing, changed the way movies were made and marketed.

Not a very revealing documentary, in large part because the two main subjects would not participate in the project -- instead releasing their own documentary three months earlier. I feel there is a great story to be told here -- perhaps even a great feature film -- regarding the huckster Israeli film duo who attempted to conquer Hollywood, but this isn't it.

"Boogaloo" is peppered with tasty scenes taken from Cannon fodder, and frankly could have used more of it, because the bulk of the interviews and interviewees are not that compelling.

Topnotch but lengthy documentary about Golan-Globus Cannon Films, synonymous in the 1980s with the DEATH WISH franchise and Chuck Norris pictures. Menahem Golan was the creative engine, while Yoram Globus was the moneyman. The Israelis perfected schlock during Reagantime. Lots of tits & ass, terrorists and gun-toting heroes.

an interesting documentary on the infamous film company that most people shrugged off as the makers of mediocre films, surprisingly some of these movies hold up better than many of Hollywood's recent 60 million plus budgets.
I grew up on most of their film slates and actually met them the duo back in the late 80s in London. Interesting to see how others rated them and their reputation.
