In his day, Rock Hudson was such a tall, dark and handsome hunk it was easy to overlook his gifts as an actor, particularly in the genre of comedy. Though most of his comedic battle-of-the-sexes pairings were with Doris Day (herself a wonderful comic performer), Hudson meets his match here in the beautiful and very funny Paula Prentiss.
Prentiss (who co-starred a few years later with husband Richard Benjamin in the delightful sitcom "He & She," a forerunner of sorts of the classic "Mary Tyler Moore" and "Bob Newhart" shows) has an endearingly quirky quality, and her ability to simultaneously charm and infuriate Rock without even trying is marvelous fun; it's a pity the two never again worked together.
