A very artistic film about the dangers and consequences of religious fanaticism upon fragile and still developing young minds. Highly, highly recommended!
Excellent example of the Shame and Blame Game played by abusive or neglectful parents leaving their children eternally confused about their relationship with the divine.
Tightly written, psychologically true, tightly shot, hauntingly directed, all performances believably performed, but especially the young woman who plays the leading role is just phenomenal. One to watch as she matures throughout her career.
For such darkly questioning material, there are a surprising number of laugh-out-loud moments too. I picked this one up a number of times before I watched it, and was not at all disappointed.
