this cd proves these guys were more than just AMERICAN WOMAN, and THESE EYES. CLAP FOR THE WOLFMAN is infectious; RUNNING BACK TO SASKATOON is surprisingly good; NO TIME is a heavyweight tune; the philosophy of SHARE THE LAND matches that of IMAGINE, by Lennon. this is the very best of The Guess Who: there's not a dog in the set. There are those who will judge CLAP FOR as being too simplistic, do not listen to them. Listen to it, and its implicit comment on the radio industry, of then, and still.

In those good, old days of early, Canadian Rock'n'Roll, 5 talented boys from windy Winnipeg, Manitoba emerged onto the music scene as The Guess Who.

Headlined by Burton Cummings (lead vocals/lyricist) and Randy Bachman (lead guitarist/songwriter), The Guess Who, and their distinct "Canadian" sound, flourished successfully for a solid decade (1965 - 1975). Time and again this first-rate band topped the pop music record charts on either side of our country's border, and beyond.

This "Best Of" CD proves, without question, that these Canadian rockers were worthy of international recognition. Out of the 14 tunes featured on this CD, some of my all-time favourites are - Undun , No Time (watch video), Shakin' All Over, and, of course, American Woman , to name but a few.
