Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach came to me by way of a recommendation. It was an accurate one in that it reminded me of four other books I've read: The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, The War of Art by Steven Pressfield, Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch and Wind, Sand and Stars by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

This is a quirky story, one that involves flying old prop planes and dispensing messianic wisdom, and it certainly doesn't overstay its welcome (i.e. it's less than 200 pages of generously-sized print). The subject's spiritual ideology is new age-y but the kind of new age that was closer to when the movement was in its infancy in the 1970s when this book was published. And while some of the morsels of wisdom are worth turning over in one's mind, the story overall lacks real depth.

Incredible, reflective book about life and what it's all (possibly) about. I quote from this book on a near-daily basis and have passed it on to many friends and family members.
