What a great album. 21st Century Breakdown is packed with energy and politically charged songs. Know Your Enemy was THE song of summer '09, and it was played everywhere. 21 Guns is probably one of the most popular songs by the band, and there's a reason for that. What I love about the song is that there are so many ways to read into the lyrics. My personal favorite from the album is actually not a popular song - it's called Last Of The American Girls. It has unforgettable lyrics, starting out with "She puts her makeup on like graffiti on the walls of the heartland." I also love the beginning bass line. Last Night On Earth is the ultimate love song, and I love that the lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong brought out some personal emotion, instead of just singing about the state of the country, Not that that's bad - East Jesus Nowhere is a powerful song with just as powerful lyrics. Green Day performed that song on SNL, and people absolutely loved it. In fact, Will Ferrell loved it so much that he decided to join in with the cowbell! This album is truly amazing to listen to.

This CD has some great songs on it, but when I tried to listen to it the CD was scratched. Not very happy that the library would give me a CD that was scratched and wouldn't play any of the songs.

I like parts of this album a lot. My issue with Green Day has always been lack of variation with song speed. Fast guitars, fast drums. One GREAT exception, 21 Guns.

Quite an excellent album, from a band who's sound although has changed, has changed for the better. The album totally rocked.

I gotta admit, after listening to the hit song "Know Your Enemy" (which really rocked!!) I was really disappointed with the overall album. It's not as great as American Idiot, but nonetheless, there are a couple good songs like "Last night on Earth" and "21 Guns"

Other than that, good job greenday!

It had been so long since I listened to a Green Day album! They've grown up - I dig their new sound! You can hear the talent in Billy-Joe's voice!
