But after a week of searching, she finds not her brother but his best friend, the handsome officer Edward Rokesby. I love Julia Quinn and this book did not disappoint. I felt this book did not have quite as much of the bantering between characters and I missed that. Overall, a pretty good book!

I love Julia Quinn and this novel was a treat because it wasn't set in England like her previous novels. I haven't come across many romances set in Revolutionary War America, so that, along with her snappy dialogue and a dashing hero, made this a great lazy day read.

I always forget precisely how charming Julia Quinn’s romances are until I read a new one from her, and then I am reminded all over again. This was a bit of her switch for her – it’s her first book set in America (Revolutionary War-era America, to be precise), which made an intriguing change. As is so often the case with her characters, both Edward and Cecilia were just such nice people – that sounds inane, but it’s actually really refreshing to read a hero and heroine who don’t instantly loathe one another, who are both fundamentally decent humans who just have a bit of a big lie of omission between them to overcome before they reach their happily ever after. This series is so much fun.
