I was honestly expecting more from this book. I had to read Absolutely Truly for OBOB (Oregon battle of the books), and thought I would hate it, but ended up loving it. The moment I learned there was a sequel, I reserved it, and when I got a notification saying that it had arrived, I begged my mom to take me to the library to pick it up. I put it off for a while, because I was almost done with the 100 book challenge at my school, and wanted to make it my 100th. However, after reading it, I realized that Absolutely Truly should have been left as a standalone book. Yours Truly basically followed the same storyline structure as the first book, with two mysteries, one taking place in the past, as well as a stolen item in the present. Also, the concept of romance doesn't really seem to belong with the series. The entire book just seemed like, "Oh, he has a crush on Mackenzie. Oh, he does too. Everyone does." as well as too much inner dialogue of "does he like me? I hope he likes me? Oh my gosh, I think he likes Mackenzie." it was just too much. Truly's character also seemed more crabby and petty in this book. It sort of ruined her character for me. It seemed like Heather Vogel Fredrick was just sort of checking the box for this one. "Whelp, I wrote the first book! Time to make like five hundred sequels, all with a storyline that's pretty much the same, just different background information." However, it was a decent read, though I wouldn't exactly recommend it to a friend like I did for the first book in the series.

Such a good book! I love this author! Being a tall girl as well, I can understand Truly's plight. And I love the culprit of the maple syrup heist. Very amazing book.

This was such a good book!! Probably one of my favourite reads this month! I highly recommend it for fans of history (like The Civil War!), chick lit, mystery, and a heartwarming family story. I liked this book even better than Absolutely Truly; it was great to be back in Pumpkin Falls again! I hope the author writes more books in this series!

Just like Absolutely Truly, the second installment includes not one but two mysteries to solve and a recipe at the end. It is a treat to spend time in Pumpkin Falls with the Lovejoy family and their neighbors and see them all work together in a crisis. There are elements such as budding teenage puppy love, kittens galore, books and more books, a hidden 19th century diary, birdwatching and everything maple. Highly recommended for middle grades and would make an entertaining classroom readaloud.
