Noemi Vidal is seventeen years old and sworn to protect her planet, Genesis. She's willing to risk anything--including her own life. To their enemies on Earth, she's a rebel. Abandoned in space for years, utterly alone, Abel has advanced programming that's begun to evolve. He wants only to protect his creator, and to be free. To the people of Genesis, he's an abomination. Noemi and Abel are enemies in an interstellar war, forced by chance to work together as they embark on a daring journey through the stars. Their efforts would end the fighting for good, but they're not without sacrifice. The stakes are even higher than either of them first realized, and the more time they spend together, the more they're forced to question everything they'd been taught was true.

I really enjoy Claudia Gray's writing, and I love this story concept. Anything space and androids, and I'm there, so I loved it for that. The two main characters were well-developed, and the plot had a clear end-goal.
However, a few of the plot points felt forced, as if they were just put in there for conflict, rather than to actually move the story towards its ultimate goal. I'd be interested to read the sequel, though I'm not grasping for it desperately.

I really liked it! Once I got passed the strange tense (third person present) it was a super easy read with loveable characters and plot twists littered throughout. I was also pleasantly surprised with the positive representation of people of faith in the world-building and character development. It was refreshing to see that something popular isn't void of that stuff yet.
Overall it was a clean, exciting read that I'd read again and will be awaiting the sequel to :)

This was a fantastic space adventure! Robots and romance are a great combo, add in some fantastic world building and you have a book that is something special. Bring on book 2!

Love Claudia Gray! My favorite series of hers is The Firebird Trilogy. (One Thousands Pieces of You, book #1). I was really excited for this new series, and it was everything I thought it would be. Action-packed, humorous, and full of classic sci-fi love, including spaceships and discussions about AI versus a human soul. A great read! Can't wait for the sequel.

I need the sequel now! This series is pretty addicting already. The dialogue has a good share of funny dialogues between the characters, the characters are so likeable, and readers will love the connection that establishes between Abel and Noemi.
