Not one of Heyer's best. The characters are not fleshed out and the dialog is not as lively as some of her others. Try Fredericka, The Grand Sophy, or The Talisman Ring instead if you haven't read any Heyer yet. Those 3 are wonderful!

One of Georgette Heyer's earlier novels, a Georgian period story, it's a light tale with tons of historicity to flesh it out. One can see the author's writing style evolving.
