I've decided to start researching parenting books before my first child reaches the difficult toddler years. So far I've started four. This book I did not finish. The information was all very dated. Much of it I had already learned in basic Psychology classes. Anytime there was something new to me, I would look up the references and found that the original work had been published in the 1970s!

This is a must have read for new parents. I still struggle with incorporating some of the suggestions but I keep referring back to the book when certain situations arise. There are so many great ideas on how to help your child be respectful and self confident.
