This book is great for anyone interested in the history of cycling infrastructure and strategies for getting improvements in your city. It touts a lot of recent successes like NYC and London and also a lot of the false starts like in Sydney.

If the book has a flaw is that it feels like a "preaching to the choir" situation, namely aimed at already eager cycling enthusiasts, willing to brave the difficult cycling conditions of their city. I would hope more transportation officials, politicians, civic planners and normal people who would otherwise ride their bikes around town if only they felt they could do it safely.
