The concept could've gone horribly wrong if this movie wasn't made by Japan. But they did a really good job with this movie. I'm not a big fan of body swap stories, but this movie does it right. This movie kept me hooked until the very end. I recommend that you watch it in Japanese with English subtitles at least once.

If you plan to watch it, watch it with your FULL attention, as it will be worth in the end to understand the whole meaning of, "your name". This is one of the best animated film of our time, no less from the best of director, Makoto Shinkai. Keeping it real to the heart.

I came in expecting a lighthearted Freaky Friday-esque comedy, and wound up emoting way more than I thought I would. The bond between Mitsuha and Taki is more moving than a lot of on screen connections that live performers share. The crux of the story could come off as being gimmicky in the wrong movie, but in this case it provides the right amount of dramatic tension for the characters to be faced with while developing their relationship.

A beautifully bittersweet story about magic and dreams, love, and longing, and loss. A teenage boy in Tokyo and a teenage girl in rural Japan find themselves occasionally swapping lives when they dream, but--as with all dreams--the memories fade upon waking. As they find themselves growing closer, they also begin uncovering some of the mystery surrounding their connection, and must decide how far they will go to hold onto something precious that seems determined slip through their fingers.

This movie is amazing!! It's an awesome mix of fantasy, slice-of-life and science fiction. One of my all-time favourite animes. Even if you you don't like anime I personally think you'll enjoy this movie.

This moviie is absolutely gorgeous, and the roller coaster of a plot was overwhelmingly moving.

A delightful mix of anime, time-travel, and fantasy - this film was a fantastic, emotional roller-coaster ride of confusion. As we slowly begin to unravel more and more of the truths hidden in Taki and Mitsuha's shared experiences, the story becomes more beautiful and complex. It all comes down to this: can you transcend time to save the one you love? This poetic and heartwarming film will have you lingering in the twilight just to experience 'the magic hour.'

(If you're a sap for characters and hidden details like me, I highly recommend re-watching it at least once to see hidden connections and allusions anew.)

Sad, Dramatic, Funny, and Romantic. What more do you want from a movie? Not to mention the animation is straight up beautiful with great compositing and a really cute style.

Extremely BEAUTIFUL animation and music.... BUT....the storyline is EXTREMELY confusing! I tried watching it both English and in Japanese with English translations...but ended up really, really confused...and extremely disappointed.

Odd little movie. Cant say that I would recommend it. Just strangely put together. Dont get me wrong, we love weird movies. Avid Miyazaki fans over here, but we all agreed this film was just lacking in many ways.
