Philo Beddoe is your regular, easygoing, truck-driving guy. He's also the best barroom brawler west of the Rockies. And he lives with a 165-pound orangutan named Clyde. Like other guys, Philo finally falls in love with a flighty singer who leads him on a screwball chase across the American Southwest. Nothing's in the way except a motorcycle gang, two sneaky off-duty cops and legendary brawler Tank Murdock.

I really liked this movie. I thought that it was funny but, I didn't like the cussing. I liked the scenes with the motorcycle gang. Also "Right turn Clyde." LOL.

I agree with lukasevansherman. This Clint Eastwood movie was fun! Not many of those.

Clint Eastwood goes ape! He plays a simple man; he likes drinking, the ladies, fighting, and hanging with his best friend, Clyde. There's just one catch: Clyde's an orangutan! Throw in a biker gang, a country singer (Eastwood's partner at the time, Sondra Locke), lots of bare knuckle brawling, a road trip, and an irascible Ruth Gordon ("Harold and Maude") and you've got yourself a barrel of fun! Beverly D'Angelo and Geoffrey Lewis co-star, and country singers Charlie Rich and Mel Tillis make appearance. Followed by a sequel.
