In this neighborhood, danger lies close to home. A domestic thriller packed full of secrets, and a twisty story that never stops--from the bestselling author of The Couple Next DoorHe looks at her, concerned. "How do you feel?"She wants to say, Terrified. Instead, she says, with a faint smile, "Glad to be home."Karen and Tom Krupp are happy--they've got a lovely home in upstate New York, they're practically newlyweds, and they have no kids to interrupt their comfortable life together. But one day, Tom returns home to find Karen has vanished--her car's gone and it seems she left in a rush. She even left her purse--complete with phone and i.d.--behind.There's a knock on the door--the police are there to take Tom to the hospital where his wife has been admitted. She had a car accident, and lost control as she sped through the worst part of town. The accident has left Karen with a concussion and a few scrapes. Still, she's mostly okay--except that she can't remember what she was doing or where she was when she crashed. The cops think her memory loss is highly convenient, and they suspect she was up to no good. Karen returns home with Tom, determined to heal and move on with her life. Then she realizes something's been moved. Something's not quite right. Someone's been in her house. And the police won't stop asking questions.Because in this house, everyone's a stranger. Everyone has something they'd rather keep hidden. Something they might even kill to keep quiet.

You'll never see the ending coming!! Lots of suspense and after reading this good luck sleeping at night. Read the couple next door and an unwanted guest by the same author. Will keep you up at night. Lots of suspense!!

I LOVED her first book, The Couple Next Door, so I thought I'd give this one a read. The writing wasn't the greatest, but it had a really great story I think. I would recommend this book if you're looking for a good thriller

The writing was not compelling for me. The story seemed predicable and honestly, I couldn't read the whole thing. Boring and poorly written in my opinion.

I would recommend her first book, The Couple Next Door over this one. I will be reading An Unwanted Guest when my hold is ready as well. This book had a lot of 'telling' versus 'showing' and that can bog down a story. I would also have preferred to read this story from the first (multiple) person narrative and not third person. It can be difficult when a breakthrough author has such success with the first book and not so much the second. Hopefully the third book of hers will bring back the excitement that the Couple Next Door did for me.

This was a compelling page-turner for me. The challenge was to figure out how the charge of murder for Karen would be dismissed. A surprising ending for both women.

Her first book was wonderful BUT her second novel was almost identical ! and Publishers Weekly has given her third novel a thumbs down.

Excellent psychological thriller.
Karen Krupp and Det. Rasbach are worthy opponents.
Her amnesia after a car accident and his experience and skill as an investigator work to make this a truth vs. lies page-turner. The more you learn about Tom, Karen, Brigid & Bob the more your sympathies change.
Twisted relationships abound yet these are characters that become people you care about and cheer for.

It was an okay read. It was very predictable and repetitive throughout most of the book, and the interesting parts seemed very rushed. Although, it was an enjoyable quick summer read.

Solidly predictable from beginning to end. I found this novel to be lacklustre and formulaic.
