This is the ONE Kwame Alexander book I don't love. Maybe I'm just more attuned to it with the #MeToo movement, but it seems to me like a lot of coercion happens in the relationship between the boy and the girl. The girl falls in love with the boy even though he is disrespectful of her boundaries and a bit misogynistic. I know girls fall in love with boys who don't treat them well, but not the kind of book I want strong teen girls to be reading, especially from such a great author like Kwame Alexander. I expect better of him.

This book is narrated by two people. A boy named Omar , and a girl named Claudia. Omar is a popular football player, who would also be considered a girl player. Claudia is a good girl who only gets good grades and is bound to Harvard. Omar makes a bet to get into Claudia’s pants. After they hold many protest against the school, they end up falling in love. They talk about their struggles, of being in a relationship and the lengths people will go to ruin your relationship out of jealousy.
