While the lead stars are Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, and Laurence Olivier, the surprise for me was Harry Andrews who serves as the butt of jokes by the three stars. Now that The United States and Great Britain are safely long-term allies, we can laugh at this satire about the two sides of the American Revolution. The film was adapted from a play by the great George Bernard Shaw, who had tendencies to make fun of man’s proclivity to start stupid wars. If you don’t enjoy the roasts against the character played by Harry Andrews, there is something wrong with your sense of humor.
