Kesha is a pretty misunderstood musical artist and a total guilty vice of mine. I was a MASSIVE fan of her last release, Warrior, yet a bit unsure how the media ballyhoo of her lawsuit with Dr. Luke was going to affect this new album, Rainbow. It was all for naught! This disc just edges out the zeal I have for Warrior because, frankly, Rainbow has a bit more spiritual content. Kesha's recent plight has indeed made a mark on her, yet only for the better. She has gleaned some serious lessons from her ordeal, come out with a seemingly healthy mindset, and used her musical talents as a conduit in the only way she can: Kesha Style!

So beautiful, powerful, and life-affirming, from dancey uptempo songs that make you shake it to heartfelt ballad-type songs. WAY more honest and relatable than the majority of pop music out today. Katy Perry and Lady Gaga only WISH they made this album!

Kesha's personal review of each tune at NPR:

"Rainbow" was the first song I wrote for this record. I was in rehab for my eating disorder.
"Bastards" is a song that I wrote by myself on a guitar at about 4 in the morning.
"Let 'Em Talk" is one of my favorite songs on the album.
"Woman" about being a woman, a huma, and proud of the confidence I have found.
"Hymn" is a song that is for people who feel like they don't have a hymn.
"Praying" is a song that is really special to me. (see "Videos")
"Learn To Let Go" is a song a I wrote with my mom and Stewart Creighton.
etc. etc.
