From Library Staff

Book Book with a Title Longer Than 4 Words. This is another one that's bouncing around a bit between staff in the Renton area libraries. It's a great introduction to the history of video games in a colorful, easy-to-read comic style.

Took a star off dense introductory book because a) there's no bibliography & b) no chapter notes or bibliography in thecomicbookstoryofvideogames.com. Just "buy me!" on its website. Ugh.
Still it does highlight conservative corporation slow adoption & undermining of video games or mostly the mavericks that done the innovations.

Lot of information, more back story than I realized. Some was over my head, but that's ok.

The Comic Book Story of Video Games is an enjoyable book that is easy to read and very informative. The history of video games is written in a comic book style with lots of silly yet engaging art work. Though I have been a lifelong gamer, this book has surprised me with lots of information about the beginnings of video games that started well before Atari and Nintendo and began to really take root during World War 2. Whether you have a strong knowledge of video game history or know nothing at all, this would be a great start to get an overview of the history of video games.
