2000 Presidential Election, TheStreaming Video - 2015
Former Secretary of State James A. Baker talks about the 2000 presidential election, and the impact the state of Florida had on that election. He reveals that a number of foreign ministers he once worked with as Secretary of State asked him what was wrong with the supposed "cradle of democracy," as the results of the Florida election continued in doubt for several days. Secretary Baker assured them that nothing was wrong with the U.S. system. "I said, 'we're going to resolve this ...with full respect for the rule of law, and there aren't going to be any tanks in the street...like there might be in your country, and there aren't going to be any riots, and we're going to get through it'."
