Two people. Ten chances. One unforgettable love story. Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away. Certain they're fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn't find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they "reunite" at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It's Jack, the man from the bus. It would be. What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered.

I went back and read this book again because there were so many small moments that had an impact on how the story plays out. All three characters h as value and valid viewpoints that came into play.

I was pleasantly surprised at how charming I found this love story! Not only a love story but a story of true friendships and the trials and struggles of both love and friendships and loyalties. A great summer read in my opinion.

What a great first book by this author! SO charming! Plenty of what ifs and twists you don’t see coming. Hated when it was over - I wanted more. I looked up the author on Facebook when I finished, thanked her for the entertainment and congratulated her!

Laurie sees a man outside of her bus window one day. There are no words, no actions, only intense eye contact but that is enough to make her fall head over heels in love with a stranger. She searches for him, with no luck. Then one day her best friend and roommate, Sarah, introduces her new boyfriend, Jack, to Laurie. Sarah is anxious for Jack and Laurie to meet. She hopes they will hit it off - if only she knew that her boyfriend is the man from the bus. The man that Laurie has been dreaming about.... and he is dating her roommate.

Bring on the angst, the heartbreak, the not wanting to hurt anyone, the wanting to be happy and the quest for the happily ever after. This book follows Laurie, Sarah and Jack through ten years of their friendship. Through their love for each other, their friendship(s), their lovers, their unrequited feelings. This is not a typical love story. It's a slice out of three people's lives. The story is told through Laurie and Jacks perspectives. The reader is privy to their secret thoughts and feelings. This book has heart.
My only complaint with this book is that I wanted an epilogue. When the book ended, I thought "Come On!". I wanted just a little bit more time with these characters. This book has a little bit of everything: friendship, loss, grief, new beginnings, forgiveness, heartache, and love.

I am definitely in the minority when it comes to liking this book b/c after multiple attempts, I couldn't get into it at all. Finally gave up on it after at least three tries.

The ending of the book (albeit rushed) moves this book to the three-star category instead of two. A romantic love story with multiple players and plenty of missed moments, there is something not quite there in the storytelling, something that keeps me from investing fully in the book. It could be that I never found myself attached to any of the characters (specifically the male protagonist, if we must call him that), there was a sense of urgency that I just didn't get when I read the book. As others have mentioned in the comments, it's not a 'Christmas' book; one of the book's attributes is that the continual jump forward in time keeps the story from getting too stuck in one era or situation.

Heart-wrenching and lovely. The perfect love story that takes many turns.

This book was an unexpected surprise. It is a not War and Peace heavy tome, but a pleasant trip through the lives of 3 people who genuinely care about each other, lost chances, ways to repair broken relationships, grief and loss, etc.
I listened to it on my kindle while doing a craft project and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Well, for me it was like a "junk food" book. You start reading it, hoping for some good taste, but even when you understand it is tastless, unhealthy and not worth anything, you still finish it, being left with bad taste in your brain and grieving lost time. The language is sooo poor, everyone is just "rolling their eyes", "grinning " and using f.. words as the only way to show some emotions. As for the plot , it was like reading Danielle Steel book ( another "no" for me).
