This adventure with Ian was everything I was looking for! I wanted to painlessly learn Russian culture and history, and I wanted to know what it would be like to travel to Russia. I didn't expect so much of it to be delivered in one package. It is very long, and I took breaks from it, pushing my start to finish to over 4 months. I am glad I kept with it until the end, because it was worth my time. I wouldn't recommend this book to everyone, but if you are interested in Russia this is a fun and at many times funny way to dip your toes in

The narration is a bit dry, read slowly with careful pronunciation by the author (but his periodic pronunciation of Russian words was amusingly atrocious). Listening to this on my commute allowed me to travel down memory lane, nodding and chuckling often. Frazier adds quite a bit of history spanning across all of the former USSR to Alaska. I didn't even get through all 16 discs! It's been requested, so I can't renew. Maybe I'll come back to it soon.
