After narrowly escaping a serial killer’s grasp, Cassie and her friends gladly let the detectives do the work. That is until there’s a murder. One that has the exact same technique and signature as Dean’s father. Will they be able to crack the case before the killer strikes again?

This gripping book will have you glued to your seat as the plot thickens. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good murder mystery.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the "Instinct" series on television and was really disappointed it wasn't renewed for a 2nd year. I finally got the first book in the series and liked it a lot. This 2nd book was even better! I sure hope a 3rd book is being planned. Normally I like to read the book or books before seeing a movie or TV series made from the books. But this time, I'm glad I happened to see the TV series first. The cast for the TV series was just wonderful with "matching" the characters in the books! Really almost spooky how well they well they matched.

After being pretty unhappy with a previous James Patterson co-authored) book, I was not sure what to expect from Patterson and Howard Roughan's KILLER INSTINCT. What I got was one of best of the co-authored books yet. The story is interesting to begin with given that it is set in New York City with terrorist attacks that remind us of 9/11 in terms of committing mass murder. The story brings together two "operators" from different agencies who have worked together before. This story is all about "all hands on deck," and multiple agencies are working jointly to find out who is responsible and to stop them. This book has more twists and turns, many of which are very surprising, as it goes along. Yet the way it all unfolds is masterful, and I imagine more close to how things unfold in real life terror/disaster tales. Thus, I was surprised that the other reviews thus far are so much lower than mine. I really liked it. And to each, her or his own.

Quick read I finished it in one day however it lacked any drama or suspense!

Not a typical Patterson page turner.
Couldn't keep my interest. Quit reading it half way through.

Quick read. Enjoyable and at times I got into the illusion of the story where I found myself not putting the book down. However, I found points of the book that I felt were weak and could have been done much better.

A little better than most. Think when his cowriter is Roughan, they're better.

This is the second of the Instinct series. The popular TV summer series Instinct is based on these books.
