Previously a big Cat Stevens fan, I stopped listening to him after he converted to Islam. I have nothing against Islam, but as Yusef Islam (the new name he adopted) he publicly called for the assassination of Salman Rushdie because the Ayatollah Khomeini was offended by Rushdie's book "The Satanic Verses."

So much for the "Peace Train." I have never been able to forgive or forget this abomination. (Fortunately, Rushdie went into seclusion and survived.)

So, I rationalize:
Cat Stevens is dead. His music lives on. It is still great.
Yusef Islam is a dreadful person and I abhor him. Also, his music sucks.

Yusuf Kslam (Formerly Cat Stevens) just was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (July 2014) The KCLS has a collection of all his work on a box set simple stating "Cat Stevens". Now I always have loved such songs as "Katmandu', "Moonstone" and "Father and Son". The last song I understand he sang to his son who was at the ceremony. Whether your an old fan of Cat Stevens or never heard it at all, your in for a treat with this CD collection.
