Add a CommentEverything about this movie is brilliant. The soundtrack sets the mood for each scene perfectly, the camerawork is creative and ingenious, the fight scenes are thrillingly violent and fun to watch, and although The Bride is a very violent and aggressive character, you can't help but root for her. Some scenes are laugh-out-loud funny, some are grotesque and gruesome, and some manage to be both at the same time.
Another thing that makes this movie brilliant is the comic book and anime inspirations. The movie is divided into "chapters" like a graphic novel (and it's even "Volume 1" in a series), and some shots are made to look like a panel in a comic. Some of the fight scenes are very anime-style, and the animated segment towards the beginning is pretty much an anime in and of itself. And the character GoGo is obviously based on the anime trope of the cute schoolgirl who could kill you a thousand different ways. The point is, while most people can enjoy this movie, you'll probably appreciate it a lot more if you're a huge nerd like me.
Also, the ending literally made me gasp.
This movie is phenomenal. I highly recommend you watch it.
