Being a fan of South Park, I really liked this movie. And once I got past the strings from the marionettes I laughed from start to finish and have watched it numerous times. There are many funny things in this movie other than crude humor.

Much like with South Park, mainly just silly jokes; in this case, some jokes related to puppetry and the typical vulgar Parker/Stone punchlines. Vulgar CAN be hilarious, but alot of the writing here is "lowest-common-denominator". I guess, it's the same reason why I stopped watching South Park after the first couple of seasons.

Watch the extras on the DVD. The amount of work that went into making this movie is incredible.

So, what, you may ask, are Team America recruits not above doing?

Well, let's see...

- They're not above shagging the hell out of another team member, puppet-style.

- They're not above getting "fall-down" drunk and puking their puppet-guts out all over the place.

- They're not above using the most disgustingly offensive and excessively profane language in order to get their point across.

- They not above mocking, ridiculing and, then, gunning-down other puppets (not on the team, of course) who are made in the image of Hollywood celebrities, like Alec Baldwin, Matt Damon, and Helen Hunt.

- They're not above making endless sexist/racist/homophobic jokes.

Team America puppets love nothing more than to annihilate, with extreme prejudice, other puppets who are made in the image of Arab and/or Asian "Terrorists".

Overall, I'd say that TEAM AMERICA's outrageous humor worked to its advantage about half the time. Yes, indeed, there were some mighty funny moments in this deliberately offensive film. But, then again, there was also plenty of asinine garbage here that was truly despicable.

You can bet, TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE was definitely a film that was not meant to be enjoyed and/or praised by everyone.

Just no nearly as funny as I expected it to be. I'm down for crude and controversial humor but just didn't find this one to be very funny, and more often than not was bored. Perhaps a film that can only be enjoyed at the time is was made?
