Although written by a former Marine, Bing West has done an excellent job of attempting to sort through the confusing politics of Iraq and especially Fallujah. The book shows why politicians should let the decision making to the Commanders on the ground and not by politicians. America's attempt to let Fallujah rule itself for six months only cost more brave young marine lives.

The Battle for Fallujah was, and may still be controversial. This veteran journalist is able to explain why the controversy occurred, why Fallujah had to be cleared of extremists, and the amazing courage of the American soldiers who clear\ed it, block by block.
