From the author of the Agatha Raisin television series... DEATH OF A VALENTINE: A Hamish Macbeth Mystery Amazing news has spread across the Scottish countryside. The most famous of highland bachelors, police sergeant Hamish Macbeth, will be married at last. Everyone in the village of Lochdubh adores Josie McSween, Macbeth's newest constable and blushing bride-to-be. While locals think Josie is quite a catch, Hamish has a case of prenuptial jitters. After all, if it weren't for the recent murder of a beautiful woman in a neighbouring village, there wouldn't be a wedding at all. For it was a mysterious Valentine's Day package--delivered to the victim before her death--that initially drew Hamish and Josie together on the investigation. As they work side by side, Hamish and Josie soon discover that the woman's list of admirers was endless, confirming Hamish's suspicion that love can be blind, deaf . . . and deadly.

Death of a Valenine --- by --- M. C. Beaton.
Once again Beaton has created a marvelous story. This time her hero, Hamish Macbeth learns that he is to be assigned an assistant constable. The police station has an extra bedroom which would serve nicely for the new copper but it would be a gargantuan task to first clean out the room and dispose of all those things that had accumulated over the years. But it’s all a moot point: the new constable is a policewoman and she very soon has designs on Hamish. It’s an interesting story which, as usual, keeps us guessing till the very end.

Always thought Hamish and Priscilla should be together now I think Hamish is just fine with his dog and cat.

If you're going to read fluff, read the best fluff! Hamish is adorkable, every bit of the story is enjoyable.

Haven't read a funnier mystery in years.

Hamish is being tricked into marriage, there are the usual various murders, and Hamish himself is the victim of attempted murder. Never a boring moment.
