Hollywood tycoon Ivor Llewellyn is a compulsive proposer, with five marriage fiascoes and the accompanying divorces to prove it. At the urging of his circumspect lawyer, Ephraim Trout, Llewellyn hires Joe Pickering, a young English combination of pugilist and playwright, to protect him from his disastrous habit while he's in London. But Joe has his own amorous mishaps, and Llewellyn once again is entangled, so Trout rushes to London only to become himself ensnared.
