We found this book entertaining as the prince is taken by his mother and father around the world, tasting different food. The prince is picky and his parents are trying to find something he will enjoy eating. As a parent, I loved the different representations of culture through food, while my 3-year-old loved identifying the food on the table. We spent time talking about whether he would like to eat the foods that the prince is rejecting (and usually the answer was yes). The story moves along quickly and has an ending that--I think--all kids can agree with! And the rhymes are natural, moving along at a comfortable reading pace. The art is colorful and quirky, with a little bit of a kid-drawn look to it, e.g. using crayons to draw the characters' hair.
