Nory's father may be the headmaster of the prestigious Sage Academy, but Nory has none of the same magical abilities. She has magic alright, but it's all "wonky", as they say. She is supposed to be able to at least morph into a kitten at her age, but her kitten always turns out wrong. Usually some sort of bitten (beaver-kitten) or dritten (dragon-kitten). Since she can't control her magic, Nory is being sent to live with an aunt she doesn't know so that she can attend a school that offers an "upside-down" class. Everyone is going to make fun of her "magic". This series is perfect for those who just want a tiny bit of the fantastic in their books. It touches on different issues kids may encounter at school, without being didactic. Looking forward to see what the upside-down class is up to in the next book.
