A much needed book. Hitchens notes that religion is always the loudest critic of freedom of speech. I find that this statement is an interesting parallel to today's Western world where freedom of speech is under fire from those who fear to "offend" (offend whomever on whatever subject). Let's not forget that a secular movement can very well become a religious cult if its dogmatic pronouncements are not allowed to be questioned, and heretics are soon found and excommunicated. Shouting down a dissenter is usually the go-to method.
