I liked the first two Greg Bear books I read because they were unique and well thought out (Eon and Darwin's Radio). But even those books were not easy reads. However, based on that experience I've attempted to read something like 10 more of his books and have only been able to finish two of them, War Dogs and Dead Lines.
First off, War Dogs is so disjointed as to invite the claim of not even being a story. What story there is isn't really resolved leaving me to believe that this whole book is just a set up for a sequel. Additionally, I never knew a story about space marines could be so boring. I was tempted to fast forward even through what passed for action sequences in this book.
