Blooming at the Texas Sunrise Motel recognizes the importance of cherishing the memories with those that one loves–while also being open to creating new ones. Following an unfortunate accident that killed her parents, Stevie Grace leaves her old home to live with her estranged grandfather at the Texas Sunrise Motel. While the hotel tenants welcome Stevie with open arms, her grandfather is less affectionate. As she settles into her new home, Stevie begins to receive bits and pieces of her parent's past–one that was kept from her. Longing to learn the whole story as well as to connect with her grandpa, Stevie works to leave her own mark at the motel–to create a space to call home. I enjoyed the wide cast of quirky and unique characters, such as Violet and Roy, the small-town setting of Little Esther, and of course, Stevie's development as a character. I loved seeing how the supporting characters helped Stevie bloom, and the writing was wonderful. The only thing I struggle with was that, while each character was fleshed out, the relationships between them seemed rather forced and less developed. Instances in which one character becomes infatuated with another appear out of place at times (though it was cute, I will admit!). Despite this, I still loved this story–it was endearing and one that many readers will come to appreciate. Definitely recommend this little gem of a book." - Angie
