Executive Director of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library, Jenni Gaisbauer recently mailed me the Uncorrected Proof for Limited Distribution copy of The Light We Lost novel for free (thanks Jenni!). In the June 2p17 newsletter, she asked if anyone wanted one of the book that they'd brought back with them from the annual Book Expo in NYC and I requested one (because I'm always down for getting a new book, especially one that's free). FYI: I hadn't heard about The Light We Lost prior to getting the book; but I was interested in reading it once I received it. Jill Santopolo has without a doubt penned a well-written adult romance novel about a former couple that can never quite let each other go. I appreciated the time frame that the story was built upon and thought that Santopolo did a good job of weaving the issues going on at the time in America in quite well with the main character's conflict. I'll admit that it wasn't a novel that wowed me; but it was a good read nonetheless. And though I'm not usually one to choose or recommend books for specific seasons, I do believe that The Light We Lost is a good book to read while on vacation during the summer.
