AS with most Koontz novels, the intrinsic evil of the bad guys is overcome by the intrinsic goodness of good people. Also a theme in Koontz novels, he gives insight to a disability or condition that we all know of, but we don't all have up close exposure or first hand knowledge of. In this case, it's autism. It's almost as if writing is Koontz' vocation and using writing to shed light on minority or disabled people in a positive manner is an avocation. It feels as if it really comes from a good place inside of him, as well as adding depth to his stories.
